Havelock Towers in Sunderland is reputed to be haunted and has become a notable location for paranormal investigations.
Originally built in 1886 as part of a workhouse complex, the building has served various purposes over the years, including housing orphans, felons and the mentally ill. Its history also includes use as a military hospital during WW1 and later as a TB hospice, where many patients succumbed to the disease.
Paranormal activity reported includes apparitions, unexplained noises, shadow figures and physical sensations.
